Betsy Fulmer

A lifelong native of Arkadelphia, Betsy graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with a Bachelor of Art degree, majoring in commercial art. She also received her Arkansas teacher’s certificate and has taught in the Gurdon Public Schools and the Arkadelphia Public Schools.  She received her Masters of Science in Education with an emphasis in art education from Henderson State University. She has significant post graduate hours in art history from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and her doctoral work was done at Union Institute and University located in Cincinnati, Ohio.  She taught primarily art history and humanities art at Henderson State University for fourteen years. While teaching at HSU she regularly exhibited with the faculty of the art department there. Now retired, she is at home continuing her life long passion to create art.

Betsy is interested in painting, drawing, manipulated photography and collage. She is inspired by nature, the effects of light, color, texture and interesting design compositions. She uses a layering philosophy and process in the way she approaches art to create intersecting layers of meaning and interpretation.
